Hey you guys! Just a quick devotional for you today.
'He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”' - Matthew 26:39
'Then Jesus left them a second time and prayed, “My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will be done.” ' - Matthew 26:42
'Don’t you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly? But if I did, how would the Scriptures be fulfilled that describe what must happen now?”' - Matthew 26:53-54
As we know, those of us who celebrate, just celebrated Easter/Resurrection Sunday. These were moments leading up to the crucifixion. Jesus knew what was coming. He knew what He was going to have to endure. He questioned if there was another way, but knew what needed to be done. We talk about the voluntary nature of His sacrifice but Jesus wasn't exactly excited to die. However, He was fully submissive and committed [to God's will] despite His discomfort.
Question:
Can you submit to the will of God even when it's uncomfortable or inconvenient for you? Can you trust that His plan and path are still the best even when you don't like the way it's going?
Prayer:
Lord, nothing you ask or require of me will ever be as intense as what was required of Jesus. Whether I know what's coming or not, I trust that your plans and your path are what's best for me. I believe that you will never put me in a situation to harm me and you want what's best for me. Help me to be fully submissive and obedient even when it's inconvenient, uncomfortable, or makes no sense to me.
